An Epilogue and Final Installment to the “Sol” series

Chapter 1: The Aftermath

Sol looked around, and saw his allies lying on the ground. His body was aching, muscles burning even with the slightest movement, his legs trembling as he forced himself up, his shiny blond hair littered with dust. “Where’s Lynin?” Lynin was the leader of the Crimson Organization, an evil organization who seeks to defeat Sol and his allies and make profit off war. He got up, and woke up his companions. “Guys, get up!” Felix adjusted his dark mage robes, and shaked off the dust from his black hair, his fingers still tingling with magic, and pulled himself up from the ground. Then there was Raven, a girl who was an assassin and skilled at blending in with the shadows, and Azure, a boy with talent at fighting with any weapon captured and trained by bandits at a young age. There were also many others with their own skills and traits. However, what was most important was the fact that the Crimson Organization leader was gone, and they could finally settle down. “Do you think he was really defeated?” Raven asked. “I guess we’ll have to wait and see,” Sol said, but smiled. “Well, we’re good for now- we should eat!” Azure suggested excitedly.

After arriving at a nearby hospital to tend to their wounds,  the group decided to head to a buffet that was close by to celebrate their victory against the Crimson Organization and eat lunch.  Sol instantly smelt seafood- from grilled fish to sushi to crab meat, it seemed like there was everything. “Wow, I'm so hungry after all that fighting!”, said Kenji, an ally of Sol and a trained ninja, who brought a plate of sushi. “It’s finally time to relax!” Raven sighed and ate her noodles. While they were eating, As Felix rose to get another plate, his watchful eye saw something shining inside a cave. “Hey, look, is that a cave? What’s in there?” Felix told the group. “I guess we can check it out after we finish eating.” Sol said. The group continued their meal, and they were ready to explore the cave.

“Alright, let’s go in!” Sol said, and the group  lit their flashlights. “Pretty normal cave,”. There were rocks everywhere, a low ceiling, occasional puddles of water, your average cave. Kenji commented. They ventured in further, following the shining light, the group stopped when they found the source. “A weird-rock thing!” Sol exclaimed, reaching out. “WAIT! We need to inspect it first. This looks like a stone that is filled with energy. Let me look at my Magistone book.” Felix warned. “This appears to be a Flash Magistone- a stone that when interacted with shows you a scene or video as if you were actually there.” Sol was flabbergasted, “What? How does this work?? Isn’t this just a Time Machine?” Felix continued, “-However, you cannot interact with anything in this scene and time does not pass in the real world, then once the scene is complete, you are transported back to the real world.”

“You really know so much about magic- I wonder- how long does a Flash Magistone usually last?” Raven asked. “In terms of the duration, it depends on the owner and the power of the Magistone- normal ones can last from 15-30 minutes, while stronger ones can go up to 3 hours- by the looks of this one, it’s about 2 hours.” Felix explained. “So I guess we should all watch it together right?” Sol clarified. “I mean, why not, I guess,” Azure agreed, and they all touched the Flash Magistone, and they were transported to the vision.

Chapter 2: Vision of the Flash Magistone

“I think we’re in- can you guys hear me?” Felix asked the others. “We all look kinda transparent.” Sol said. They were in an old timey and lowly town, with people on the sides selling things like food and weapons.  “Wait, look, it’s someone!” Raven told them. “That looks suspiciously like Lynin, the boss of the Crimson Organization.” Kenji pointed out. “I want to help the world in these bad times,” Lynin said, talking to what looked to be his friend on the sidewalk. “Well, there are many ways to help- I know you like fighting, so what about making some kind of organization that can help fight crime in these densely populated cities?”His friend said. Lynin looked satisfied, clearly liking the idea. “This is definitely before the war started- before the Crimson Organization was created, I suppose, but fighting crime isn’t what the Crimson Organization does!” Sol noticed. “Well, I guess we’ll have to find out.” Azure said. The scene blurred, and it felt like the group was in a different moment in time. “The Crimson Organization is finally ready!” Lynin grinned, as the first Crimson Organization headquarters was finally finished. “Now, I'll have to start recruiting some soldiers.” Lynin said. The same thing happened, and their vision shifted to another moment in time. “This isn't making any sense!” Sol exclaimed. “Alright, now that we have around 30 soldiers, we can start taking missions.” Lynin muttered to himself. “Sir, we have our first mission! Rescue hostages over in Seafell Town in Elvia!” A Crimson Organization soldier told Lynin. Time flashed again, and they appeared in the middle of the mission. “Looks like we have no choice but to attack!” Lynin commanded. Lynin charged in with his soldiers, easily taking down the enemies. A shadowy figure watched in the distance. “This one is good, really good. Perfect for my purposes.” the figure chuckled.

Time warped to a different moment- the group was starting to get used to this, despite how weird it felt. It was a few weeks later, when Lynin had carried out a few missions. Suddenly, a shadowy figure entered Crimson Organization Headquarters. “Hello, do you have a mission for us?” Lynin questioned. The man was wearing ragged old robes, with a wooden Bow & Arrow and a small dagger on his back. He looked like an average village hunter that needed help to defeat some critters.  “No, I would like to join you. My name is Matthew, and I am a lowly merchant from these areas. I am quite skilled in combat with the Bow & Arrow, and I would be great if in need of diplomatic help as well, if I do say so myself.” Matthew said, looking delighted and almost proud. “Alright, I guess you can trial for a few missions and we’ll see if you can join.” Lynin replied, looking surprised.

For what seemed like the millionth time, the group warped in time to an alleyway, where Matthew was talking to himself. “Alright, so if I use some energy from the Orb of Control, then I can simply put it in his drink and I will have control of him.” Matthew chuckled, and walked away. The next day, Matthew asked Lynin to try his new drink. Of course, it was corrupted by the Orb Of Control. After he drank it, Lynin got a headache and soon fell asleep.

“Now, I have full control. I can do anything and everything with the Crimson Organization!” Matthew laughed, then smirked and walked away.

The image flashed to years in the future, where Crimson Organization was the dirty organization it was today, with Matthew making ‘suggestions’ that Lynin would always agree to, and the vision ended with Lynin himself making a comment. “If you are seeing this right now, I am finally free from the Orb of Control.”. “If you are Sol and his friends, I have transferred my body into a robot and recovered my control. We must defeat Matthew. Meet me and my son at Tripwire Cave.” The Flash Magistone ended. “Well, I guess we know what we need to do next!” Sol exclaimed.

xChapter 3: Tripwire Cave

The group boarded a short ferry ride to Tripwire Cave. “What a nice view,” Kenji looked outside the window of the ferry. “I’ve personally never been to Tripwire Cave,” Felix said. “I wonder if this is all just a trap and that Flash Magistone was fake.” Raven said. “We’ll have to see- just be ready.” Sol said as the ferry arrived at Tripwire Cave. The cave was lit with ambient lights , and it was quite beautiful. “I wonder why the Tripwire Cave is called Tripwire Cave,” Felix said. “It’s because there are special spiders in this cave that use Tripwire like string- if you step on it, it poisons and slows you, leaving you open to be attacked. However, the area in the cave with Tripwire Spiders is blocked off, and this place is now a tourist attraction. “I don’t like where this is going- if Lynin wants to meet us in a discreet area, the blocked off sections of Tripwire Cave would be the perfect place.” Raven said.

They arrived at Tripwire Cave, then they saw a few guards standing. “Tickets?” they asked. Raven handed them four tickets for Sol, Raven, Azure, and Kenji, the people who would be going to Tripwire Cave. Felix would be keeping watch outside, so they would not be stopped. They entered, and walked around. “Despite the spiders and all, the structure of this cave seems magical,” “Apparently, it is. A dark wizard who wanted to hide created this place, and littered it with traps,” said Kenji, looking at an information card. “Well, Lynin definitely isn’t here, so we need to sneak in.” Sol said. Raven started chatting to the guards about the history of Tripwire Cave, then Sol and the group quietly slinked into the tunnel marked “No Entry”. At that moment, the guards saw them and yelled. “Hey! No entry! That part’s dangerous!” Before the guards could rush in, Raven pulled a powerful roundhouse kick, knocking out both guards and rushing in with the group. Felix rushed in to keep watch on the guards. “Be careful! Don’t step on the tripwires!” Kenji warned. Sol looked at the tripwires- they were yellow and shiny, and almost looked like candy.  He looked around, and didn’t see traces of any spiders. “It’s almost like the spiders just aren’t here at all,” Sol said. “I can’t see any, but I'm sure they’re here.” Azure replied. Suddenly, a bat flew by, startling Sol, making him fall over. “Uh-oh…” a tripwire activated, and suddenly three black spiders with yellow lines across their body. “It’s poisoned me!” Sol said, unable to move. Kenji jumped in with his Katana, but the Tripwire Spiders had a special hard shell that deflected his katanas. “Physical attacks don’t work!” he yelled, jumping back. Sol crawled forward and threw a pair of red goggles at Kenji. “What are these?” Kenji asked. “They… Are Crimson Goggles… They scan the strengths and weaknesses… of… the enemy…” Sol wheezed. Kenji quickly put them on, scanning the spiders. “They have high physical damage and poison damage, and are resistant to physical attacks, however, they are weak to magic attacks!” Kenji exclaimed. Raven’s fingers tingled with electricity, and a thunderbolt shot forward, vaporizing a spider mid-leap. A second spider pounced at Azure, and Azure quickly jumped back, barely avoided the spider, it’s fangs grazing his shoulder as he rolled aside. “Don’t let it get close! I don’t think it has ranged attacks!” Azure exclaimed. Right on cue, the spider shot a yellow tripwire at Kenji, pulling him towards it. “Never mind!” Azure exclaimed. He quickly shot an ice blast at the string, freezing it in place. Kenji then used a blast of fire to free himself and burn the spider. “Two down, one to go!” Raven charged up a powerful energy blast and fired it, missing the spider. “Now!” she yelled, and Kenji and Azure fired a barrage of magic blasts at it, destroying it. “We need an Antidote for Sol!” Suddenly, a robot and a boy descended. “I have one,” the boy said, giving it to Sol, and Sol quickly drank it and returned to normal. “Thanks, who are you?” Sol asked them.  “Name’s Frost. Lynin’s my old man.” The boy kicked a spider carcass, scowling. “Hated Crimson even before they brainwashed him. Now? Let’s just say I owe Matthew some payback.” . I was a wandering mercenary, similar to Surge, Brock and Sabrina, but now I can see all of our objectives align to defeat Matthew.” Frost said. “I’m Lynin, my mind has been implanted in this robot. At first, this was an attempt to get back at you guys, but now that I am not under the control of Matthew, I’m back to normal.” Lynin said in a robotic voice. “We have to defeat Matthew, and end this Crimson Organization.” Frost said. “Alright, where to?” Sol asked.

Chapter 4: Battle VS Matthew

“Well, he’ll probably still be at the headquarters, commanding the Crimson Organization as if I was still there.” Lynin said. “Alright then- what’s the plan?” Sol asked Frost and Lynin. “Well, normally the Crimson Organization technology and dragons would be too much for them. However, my dad has a control chip which can disable all the dragons. Since you guys have already whittled down the amount of grunts the Crimson Organization has, probably around 100 now, it should be a fair fight.” Frost said. “20 of us and 100 of them doesn’t seem like a very fair fight.” Sol pointed out. “Well, we’re strong, we have the element of surprise, and you guys have been outnumbered many times. We can do this.” Frost assured them, as they arrived close to the Crimson Organization headquarters. “I’ve already called in Sabrina, Brock, Surge, and all of Master Darryl’s trainees. We should have about 50 people now.” Sol said. “Great, now let’s go.

The organization was definitely still open, with guards roaming around with their dragons like usual. “On the count of 3, we charge.” Frost said. “We don’t wait for Sabrina and the others?” Felix asked. “The element of surprise, remember. 3… 2… 1… Charge!!” Frost exclaimed, and the group charged forward to battle. A few guards noticed them and one of them smirked. “Should we call for backup?” one of them said. “We have dragons. What do you think?” he replied. They charged in, riding their dragons. One shot out water, one shot out fire, one shot out ice, and one shot out wind. The blasts were slow, but there were many firing at the same time. People were getting hit and it was hard to hit the dragons as they were flying fast in the sky. Lynin smiled and pulled out a button, and pressed it. Suddenly, the dragons roared and fell to the ground. “What happened?!!” The group charged, quickly defeated the grunts, and rushed inside. Surprisingly, there was no secret base.  Matthew was just standing there, in battle armor, wielding a shining sword. “I was expecting you,” Matthew looked at Sol. “But you? Surprising.” Matthew pointed to Lynin and Frost. “I thought you were dead- free of the Orb of Control, eh?” Matthew chuckled. “You’re evil!” Frost exclaimed. “How do you expect to defeat us with a weird sword and weird armor? Your dragons don’t work and you barely have any grunts left.”. “Weird is an understatement. Do you know how hard I had to work to obtain the Dragonic Armor and Sword? Now you will see its power.” Matthew said. His aura exploded outwards, knocking back everyone. Then he charged forward, anyone nearing his sword got destroyed and knocked back. “I can’t even get close, let alone land a hit!” Kenji exclaimed. “His armor is deflecting my arrows like they’re nothing!” Raven exclaimed. “Resistant to magic as well,” Sol said, firing multiple Sun Blasts that bounced off Matthew’s armour. Sol fell back, and whispered in Felix’s ear. “His head is unprotected- if we call for backup and they land on top and deal a powerful blow, he could be defeated.

Sol and the others tried to hold off Matthew, while Felix secretly called in Sabrina to attack from above. Sol noticed that Matthew was slowing down- despite his power, his armour was weighing him down. Sol noticed this, and zigzagged around him, aiming for spots that his armour didn’t protect. Every few seconds, his aura would grow then shrink, only allowing mere moments to attack before the attacker would be knocked back. Sol jumped in for an attack, and landed a hit. Matthew winced, fighting back with a slash that circled all around him, sending Sol, Azure, and Raven flying backwards. Suddenly, Matthew yelled and wings sprouted from his back. Fire bursted out from him, his eyes glowing a fiery red. “Now you will see my real power!!” Matthew fired fire blasts at the enemy, defeating them instantly. While Matthew was on his rampage, Sol felt like there wasn’t much time. He looked at Felix worryingly, but Felix just smiled. Suddenly, the ceiling bursted out, and Sabrina, Brock, and Surge, and Master Darryl and his students fell in, weapons targeting Matthew’s head. “Make sure he can’t move!” Master Darryl instructed, sword aimed at Matthew. Sol holded him off with Sun Magic, and Felix fired blasts of Wind Energy. Matthew was unfazed, and noticed the group falling from above. “Now!!” Sol yelled, and Azure used his Stop magic to temporarily freeze Matthew in place. The group then fell to Matthew, delivering a fatal blow. Matthew fell to the ground, with no signs of movement. “Have we defeated Matthew?” Frost asked. “Maybe we have,” Sol said, and grinned.

“Wow, we really have ended the Crimson Organization. No more loose ends, no more grunts- at most a few more camps here and there. What should we do next?” Sol said. “Maybe we should restart Crimson Organization for it’s intended purpose.” Lynin said. “I like that idea. There would be not one leader, but we would work together to ensure this doesn't happen again.” Frost said. “What should we call it?” Azure asked. “Hmm… What about the Neo Ruby Organization? Neo as in a revival of what the Crimson Organization, and Ruby is different from Crimson but also a shade of red, just to reflect new things that are going to happen.” Sol said. “I like that- Neo Ruby Organization it is.” Lynin agreed, his robot form smiling. Sol and his friends looked to the horizons, unsure but excited of the journeys to come.
